APPLIED MATHEMATICIAN IN NEURO-ONCOLOGY

The Department of Pathology at the University of Washington announces its search for a candidate to fill an Assistant or Associate Professor position within the Nancy and Buster Alvord Brain Tumor Center.  The appropriate candidate may be selected to fill an endowed chair depending on qualifications.  This new Center is recruiting highly collaborative physicians and scientists (MD or MD PhD) who are dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of brain cancer through research.  The successful candidate will have achieved national recognition in the fields of applied mathematics and neuropathology, and is expected to make contributions to the advancement of teaching and research in these areas of investigation.  Primary appointment will be Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology (School of Medicine) and secondary appointment in the Department of Applied Mathematics (School of Arts and Sciences) with access to trainees from both departments.  Applications received by 30 September, 2010 will receive full consideration.  University of Washington Faculty engage in teaching, research and service.

MOLECULAR NEURO-ONCOLOGIST/NEUROPATHOLOGIST

The Department of Pathology at University of Washington School of Medicine (Seattle, WA) seeks a Research Scientist/Neuropathologist for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to join a Division of five faculty.  The major criterion for appointment is demonstrated success in molecular neuro-oncology research. The Division of Neuropathology evaluates approximately 1,300 surgical specimens and 300 autopsies per year.  Preference will be given to candidates who can participate in our diagnostic service, hold board certification in anatomic pathology and neuropathology, and are eligible for a medical license in WA State.  The candidate must have a M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D.  Faculty in our Division have well-funded research laboratories and collaborate extensively with members of allied Departments.  University of Washington Faculty engage in teaching, research and service work.

Faculty Position in Pathology at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC), an internationally renowned center of excellence for hemopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), basic research in cancer cell biology, and treatment of various cancers, and the University of Washington Department of Pathology are recruiting a full-time faculty member. The appointment at the FHCRC will be as an Assistant, Associate or Full Member with a non-tenured faculty appointment as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Pathology.  The candidate must be an M.D. who is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology.

The pathologist will join the Pathology Department located at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) on the FHCRC campus. The FHCRC/SCCA performs ≥500 HSCT/year.  A major responsibility is to provide pathology support for the HSCT service focused on hematolymphoid, gastrointestinal/hepatic, pulmonary, skin, and infectious disease pathology.  The SCCA and FHCRC campus affords considerable opportunities for collaborative research with the very robust programs dealing with diseases treated by HSCT, other types of cancer, as well as for independent projects.
